The National Junior College Athletic Association Region III baseball coaches recognized four Hudson Valley Community College players on its All-Region Team.
Sophomore pitcher William Lewis (Middletown/Middletown High School) earned First Team honors. Sophomore Dan Bruno (Saratoga Springs/Saratoga Springs High School) and freshmen Tom Zink (Rotterdam/Guilderland High School) and Jesse Bulka (Summitt/Jefferson High School) were named to the Second Team.
Lewis finished the season with a 7-4 record and leads all Division III pitchers with a 1.64 earned run average. He struck out 59 batters in 60.1 innings of work.
Bruno, who played the majority of the season at third base, hit .357 (55-for-154) and drove in 38 runs. He led the team with 17 stolen bases.
Zink, a catcher and first baseman, hit .345 (60-for-174) with 10 doubles, four home runs and 32 RBI. He also stole 10 bases.
Bulka, who was the Vikings designated hitter, led the team with a .400 (38-for-95) batting average. He drove in 23 runs.
Hudson Valley completed its season with a 34-15 record. It's the third consecutive season the Vikings have produced more than 30 wins.
