The Hudson Valley Community College women’s tennis student-athlete, Jacqueline Bornt (Wynantskill/Averill Park) is scheduled to travel to Peachtree City, Georgia for the NJCAA National Championships from November 2-4, 2018.

"Jackie grew up playing tennis with her family and has developed a very versatile tennis game.  She was able to assess her opponent's strengths and weaknesses in regular season and Regional matches and used different game strategies for each opponent,” said Denise Potenza, Hudson Valley’s tennis coach. “She became more determined as the season went on and her match scores reflected that.  It will be exciting to see Jackie compete at the National level in Peachtree City, Georgia at the end of this week!"

Bornt claimed the NJCAA Region 3 Singles Championship on October 7 when she defeated Onondaga’s Micah Mixon in straight sets 6-1,6-0 and qualified for a spot in the NJCAA National Tournament.

Jackie completed an undefeated season as the Vikings top-ranked singles player with an 8-0 regular season record. Bornt became the second Viking in as many years to win a Region 3 Championship. Sarah Sampson won her NJCAA Region 3 title last season as the team’s No. 3 singles flight.

The matches are scheduled to begin on Friday, November 2 at 9 a.m. The flighted tournament will feature best of three sets with regular scoring and a back draw, eight game pro-set with no advantage scoring for both singles and doubles.
