Hudson Valley Community College's softball program made history in 2025 with a season that will be remembered for years to come. Sophomores Moira Collins and Angelise Montanez not only delivered standout performances on the field, but also earned NJCAA All-American honors, marking a major milestone for the Vikings.
Moira Collins was named to the NJCAA First Team All-American, becoming the first HVCC softball player to receive first-team honors since Tracy Cheesebrough—an HVCC Hall of Famer—in 2007. With this achievement, Collins becomes just the third player in program history to make the NJCAA First Team, joining Cheesebrough (2007) and Annmarie Nelson (2005). Collins finished the season with a 14-5 record, 1.57 ERA, and 133 strikeouts over 107.1 innings pitched, solidifying her status as one of the nation's elite pitchers.
Angelise Montanez added to the historic season by being named to the NJCAA Second Team All-American, making 2025 the first time in program history that HVCC has had two All-Americans in the same season. Montanez put up stellar numbers, hitting .543 with 51 hits, 57 runs, 30 RBIs, and a .830 slugging percentage, while anchoring the infield at shortstop.
This historic duo joins a prestigious list of HVCC softball All-Americans. The program's all-time honorees now include:
-
2025: Moira Collins (1st), Angelise Montanez (2nd)
-
2024: Anna Siter (2nd)
