Don Hogan enters his ninth year with the Vikings as a defensive assistant, with emphasis on the linebackers, after spending the last couple of seasons as the defensive coordinator. Hogan brings 26 years of high school coaching experience, most recently serving as the defensive line coach at Watervliet for 20 years and as defensive coordinator for 13 of those years. He was part of the coaching staff that made 10 sectional appearances, four state regionals appearances and three Class C State championships.

Coach Hogan was also the defensive coordinator for the local semi-pro team, the Troy Fighting Irish, in 2013, which won the NFA Championship.

Hogan played football at Christian Brothers Academy as a wide receiver and then went on to play two years at Hudson Valley Community College as a defensive back. He also played three years of basketball at Daemen College, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in social work and psychology. Hogan earned his master’s at C.W. Post Long Island University in social work and community mental health. 

He and his wife, Patti, reside in Watervliet along with their two daughters, Meaghan and Bridgit.
