Hudson Valley Community College football (5-4) won their second straight game and their fourth in the last five games after defeating Navy Prep 8-7 on Saturday afternoon at the Outdoor Athletic Complex on the campus of Hudson Valley Community College.

The Vikings were held scoreless for a majority of the game and were held deep into their own territory until they finally broke through with 1:34 remaining in the fourth quarter. The Vikings marched 75 yards on a 17-play drive, which was capped by a one-yard rushing touchdown by Desi Floyd. As the crowd noise grew louder, the Vikings opted to utilize their momentum and attempt a two-point conversion and the opportunity to gain the lead over Navy Prep.

Following a Navy Prep timeout, the Vikings needed a secondary push from the offensive line, which gave Floyd just enough leverage to cross the goal line for another two points and the 8-7 advantage. Floyd finished the game as the Vikings leading rusher as he tallied 51 yards on 17 carries, including the one-yard touchdown.

Hudson Valley still had to fight for the win as Navy Prep took the kickoff and marched down to the Vikings two-yard line. As the clock continued to run towards zero, Navy Prep opted to attempt a game-winning field goal with five seconds remaining in the game. The field goal was blocked by the Vikings defensive line and recovered by the Vikings as time ran out on the game and the Vikings came out victorious.

Alex Dembroski finished the game with 101 passing yards on 14-of-20 attempts. Despite Hudson Valley's four turnovers, the team did not quit and fought their way to their fifth win of the season, which is the most wins since 2015 when they finished the season 6-2.

The Vikings football season concludes next Saturday, November 9 when they welcome East Coast Prep to the Outdoor Athletic Complex on the campus of Hudson Valley Community College.
