After a national search, Hudson Valley Community College Director of Athletics Justin Hoyt named Devon Tomson as the College's men's soccer head coach.
Tomson comes to Hudson Valley with over 15 years of progressive experience in the field of coaching soccer. He is currently the Director of College Recruiting, Grass Roots, Camps & Clinics for Global Premier Soccer based out of Clifton Park, NY.
"Devon has a very diverse background within soccer, which is conducive to our environment," said Director of Athletics Justin Hoyt. "He brings a wealth of coaching experience at all different levels and has fostered relationships that will help us recruit students in and also recruit them out.'
Prior to joining Global Premier, Tomson was the Director of Coaching for the Albany Alleycats Premier Soccer Club. Devon brings 10 years of collegiate coaching experience after spending time with three NCAA programs, Marist College, Bard College and UC Santa Cruz.
Tomson joined the Marist College coaching staff as an assistant in 2013, where he managed and organized all Red Fox Soccer Camps and helped build upon the Marist soccer connections with the Hudson Valley's local youth soccer programs.
While at Bard, Tomson served as the program's head coach as well as the department's Assistant Director of Athletics. He was responsible for the entire men's soccer program, from scheduling of 18 NCAA men's and women's sports as well as facility and event management.
During his time at UC Santa Cruz, Tomson assisted on two NCAA Tournament teams, which had three professional players and 15 NSCAA Academic All Americans. Devon also ran Catalyst Soccer Club and won a State Cup Championship in 2012 as the coach for the Red Star Soccer Club, a satellite club for European Football program AFC Ajax.
Tomson received his Master's Degree in Physical Education & Coaching from Canisius College in 2012 and holds his USSF C License as well as NSCAA Advanced National Certification.
