Volleyball Wins on Dig Pink Night

The Hudson Valley women's volleyball team (6-14) closed out their home schedule in front of a record crowd with a straight set win over Ulster as the Vikings held their annual Dig Pink game concurrently with honoring their graduating student-athletes for Senior Night. 

Prior to the match, the Vikings volleyball program took time to recognize all of the breast cancer survivors that were in attendance and provided them with a pink rose. The volleyball program also raised over $252 in donations for the Side-Out Foundation and its Dig Pink initiative. The Vikings combined for 39 kills, 37 assists, three service aces, 23 digs and three blocks in their home finale. 

Leading the way for Hudson Valley's offense was Leureah Cummings and Katrina Vrooman, who combined for 19 kills and finished with exceptional hitting percentages. Vrooman, led the team and finished with a career-high .444 hitting percentage. Cummings finished the match with a .360 hitting percentage. Cummings also added 11 assists in the Vikings win. 

Madison Demarco finished with 10 kills and five digs, while Victoria Kendrick posted a team-best 26 assists and added one defensive dig. Laura Grippin recorded a team-high 10 digs and now has 249 total digs on the season. 

The Vikings volleyball program is back in action on Thursday, Oct. 17 as they travel south to take on SUNY Orange at 7 p.m. in Middletown, NY.
