The Hudson Valley women's volleyball team got off to a strong start in 2019 as they defeated Paul Smith's College 3-1 on Saturday, August 31 in the McDonough Sports Complex on the campus of Hudson Valley Community College. 

After dropping the first set, the Vikings regrouped to claim the next three sets to win the match. With the match tied at one game apiece, the Vikings freshman Andraya Warner-Davis served through 13 straight Vikings points to take a 19-9 advantage in the third set. Warner-Davis had a monster match serving as she finished with 17 total service aces.

Following a third set win, the Vikings closed out Paul Smith's College 25-21 in the fourth set for the win. 

The Vikings presented a well-rounded offensive attack, led by Madison DeMarco's 10 kills. Warner-Davis added eight kills and Katrina Vrooman finished the match with six kills. Leureah Cummings had a nice match distributing the ball to the Vikings power hitters and finished with a game-high 20 assists. 

Hudson Valley is back in action on Thursday, Sept. 5 when they travel to face Adirondack at 7 p.m. in Queensbury, NY.
