Volleyball Wins! Defeats North Country in Straight Sets

Hudson Valley Community College women's volleyball (4-14) defeated North Country on the road in straight sets 3-0 (25-19, 26-24, 25-21) on Wednesday evening in Lake Placid, NY.  

In the three sets, the Vikings combined for 32 kills, 24 assists and 59 digs. Kirstin Wood (Colonie/Colonie) led the Vikings with 10 kills on 30 attempts and added 18digs and three service aces. 

Laura Grippin (Berne/Berne-Knox-Westerlo) had a big game for the Vikings as she finished with a team-high 22 digs. She also added a pair of service aces. Leureah Cummings (Voorheesville/Voorheesville) had a consistent game for the Vikings attack. She finished with a .600 hitting percentage with six kills on 10 attempts. 

Madison DeMarco (Schenectady/Rotterdam) joined Grippin and Wood by finishing the match with double-digit digs as she recorded 12 in the three-set match.

The Vikings volleyball team prepares for their final pod tournament of the season as they travel to Fulton-Montgomery to place Mohawk Valley, Herkimer and Fulton-Montgomery on Saturday, October 13.
