The Hudson Valley Community College women's soccer program keeps picking up key regional wins as they improved to 4-0 in the last four games and have secured a spot in the NJCAA Region 3 postseason following their 7-0 win over Jefferson this afternoon in Watertown, NY.

The Vikings jumped out to an early lead when Mikayla Bechtel scored her first of four goals at the one-minute mark. Bechtel's goal was assisted by Alison Waldron

Bechtel scored the next two goals, one being an own goal by the Jefferson team, which was caused from a cross from Bechtel. Her second goal came unassisted at the 17-minute mark and the own-goal was at the 41-minute mark. Right before the halftime break, the Vikings extended its lead to 4-0 when Marilyn Decker received a pass from Bechtel for her first goal of the game.

In the second half, Bechtel continued her strong play and scored her fourth and final goal of the game at the 57-minute mark, giving the Vikings a 5-0 advantage. In less than five minutes, the Vikings added two more goals for the final 7-0 score.

Decker scored her second goal of the game, assisted by Riley West, at the 60-minute mark and a minute later, West took advantage of a good ball for her first goal of the game.

The Vikings concluded its regular season with an 8-5 overall record and 6-5 in Region 3. The team is projected to be an eight-seed for the upcoming Region 3 playoffs beginning Oct. 23. If the soccer committee seeds past eight, the Vikings will host the nine-seed on Saturday, Oct. 23. If the soccer committee only seeds eight programs, the Vikings will travel on Tuesday, Oct. 26 to play top-seed Mohawk Valley in Utica, NY.
