Hudson Valley Community College women's soccer (9-3) took the spotlight once again as they defeated Onondaga 6-2 on Saturday afternoon in Syracuse, NY.

The Vikings dominated the first half, scoring four goals and followed with two more goals in the second. Starting off the game, Brooke Clough found herself serving the ball to Morgan Catlin inside the goal box. Catlin took a shot, which rebounded off Onondaga's keeper's feet and into the net, scoring the first goal for the Vikings three minutes into the game.

Onondaga scored 9:24 minutes into the game, tying the game. The Vikings rebounded quickly as Rebecca Fankhanel combined with Grace Cusack less than one minute later to score the Cikings second goal of the game.

Clough came up from behind with 28 minutes left in the first half, scoring the third goal of the half. Cassie Patrick found a quick pass to Clough, who dribbled up the far right side of the field and took a powerful shot right into the top left corner of the net.

Catlin scored her second goal with 1:41 minutes remaining in the half. She received a pass from Cusack, placing the ball in the lower right corner of the net. The Vikings ended the first half with a 4-1 advantage.

Clough and Cusack came in hard in the second half to score the two remaining goals for the Vikings. Clough assisted Cusack as she slotted the ball in the lower right corner of the net for the score.

Onondaga scored with 20 minutes remaining in the game, but that gave Cusack motivation to respond and complete her hat trick with 2:24 left in the game. Clough once again, combined with Cusack, who shot from outside the 18-yard box and past Onondaga's keeper into the lower right corner of the net.

The women's soccer team is back in action on Wednesday, Oct. 16 when they kick off a three-game homestand. The Vikings will take on Holyoke on Oct. 16 at 5 p.m. at the Outdoor Athletic Complex on the campus of Hudson Valley Community College.
