Metzold Honored as NJCAA First-Team All-American

Hudson Valley Community College women's soccer student-athlete Sydnee Metzold (Rotterdam/Schalmont) has been named to the NJCAA All-American First-Team as announced today by the NJCAA Division III Women's Soccer Committee. 

Metzold, a Rotterdam, NY native, becomes the first Hudson Valley women's soccer player to earn All-American honors in program history. The All-American honors are the latest accolades for Metzold as she had previously been named the Mountain Valley Conference and the NJCAA Region 3 Player of the Year. She also earned First-Team All-Region and All-Conference honors for her success on the field this season. Metzold was twice named the NJCAA Region 3 Player of the Week (9/11, 10/2) and earned national Player of the Week honors on Sept. 11 following a career week with nine goals and three assists for 21 total points.

Sydnee led the Vikings in scoring for the second consecutive season, in which she set the all-time program record for points with 73, tied the program record for goals in a single season with 28 and placed third overall with 17 assists this season.

Metzold's 28 goals and 73 points has her ranked third among all NJCAA participants and leads all of NJCAA Region 3. In her two-year career as a Vikings, she amassed 40 goals, 26 assists for 106 total points. 

The women's soccer program reached new heights this season under the leadership of Metzold as the Vikings finished with a 11-3-1 record and reached the NJCAA Region 3 tournament for the fifth consecutive year.
