Women's Basketball Falls at Home to No. 4 Herkimer

The Hudson Valley women's basketball team dropped their third straight game after they were defeated 59-43 by No. 4 Herkimer Generals on Saturday afternoon in the McDonough Sports Complex on the campus of Hudson Valley Community College. 

The Vikings fell behind at halftime 31-14 after they shot 11 percent from the floor in the first half. The Vikings went on a cold shooting spell in the second quarter as they failed to record a field goal and were outscored 14-4 by the Generals. 

Hudson Valley's offense started to flow in the fourth quarter as they outscored Herkimer 20-16 behind Emily Erickson's nine points and Anna VanRoy's six points in the quarter. 

Erickson went on to finish with a game-high 21 points with a majority of her points coming from the free throw line (11-of-15). Grace VanRoy reached double-digit scoring as she hit all six of her free throws and added four rebounds, two assists and a team-best five steals. 

The women's game concluded the College's annual Community Day, which featured special guest and American Idol finalist, Madison VanDenburg. VanDenburg performed the National Anthem and held a meet and greet with fans. The day also featured free admission, free food and free ice skating during the fun filled afternoon in the McDonough Sports Complex. 

The Vikings are back in action tomorrow as they travel to take on Broome at 1 p.m.
