The Hudson Valley women's basketball welcomed UConn Avery Point to the McDonough Sports Complex on Thursday evening as the Vikings were defeated 95-70 in their first home game since Nov. 20.

UConn Avery Point jumped out on the cold shooting Vikings in the first half and didn't look back as they led by as many as 25 points early in the second half. Hudson Valley entered the halftime break trailing UConn Avery Point 56-34.

The Pointers were led by Abbie Stone, who hit four three-point field goals and finished with a game-high 36 points.

Leading the way for Hudson Valley was Emily Erickson (Melrose/Tamarac) and Alexandra Rifenburg (Schaghticoke / Hoosic Valley). The duo combined to score 29 points with Erickson leading the way with 15 points. Rifenburg added 14 points, including a pair of field goals from behind the three-point arc.

Grace VanRoy (Saugerties/Saugerties) and Anna VanRoy (Saugerties/Saugerties) reached double-digit scoring for the ninth and eighth time this season, respectively. Grace posted 10 points and Anna finished the game with 11 points.

The Vikings have a day to recover before they welcome rival Herkimer to the McDonough Sports Complex as part of the College's annual Community Day. Doors open at noon, with the women scheduled to play around 3 p.m. following the men's game.

American Idol standout, Madison VanDenburg will join the festivities and perform the National Anthem prior to the start of the games. There will be free ice skating from 12-2 p.m. (rentals cost $3), free admission, free food and caricature artists.
