Women's Basketball Win Streak Snapped by Corning

The Hudson Valley women's basketball team dropped a tough match 78-70 against Corning on Sunday afternoon at the Alumni Recreation Center of the campus of Siena College. 

The Vikings trailed by as many as 10 points in the second half of the game. The Vikings responded their potent three-point field goals, but Corning continued to keep their lead hovering around 10 points. 

Entering the fourth quarter, the Vikings trailed Corning 61-52. Following several back-and-forth possessions, the Vikings trailed 73-68 with less than a minute remaining but couldn't find a bucket and Corning closed out the win with free throws. The Vikings couldn't overcome a 40-point performance from Corning's Taylor Kelly. She shot 15-for-35 from the floor, including 8-for-21 from behind the arc. 

Leading the Vikings offensively was Grace VanRoy, who finished the game with 16 points and eight rebounds. Alexandra Rifenburg earned a double-double with 13 points and a game-high 14 rebounds. 

Hudson Valley women's basketball is back in action following the Thanksgiving break and will travel to play at Tompkins Cortland on Monday, December 2 at 5 p.m.
