The Hudson Valley women's basketball (19-7) season came to a close tonight as the Vikings lost their sub-regional match at No. 4 Jefferson 75-67 in Watertown, NY.

Jefferson jumped out early to a 40-27 lead in the first half, the largest lead of the game. Hudson Valley made a valiant effort in the second half, but fell short of the comeback with Jefferson outscoring the Vikings 23-17 in the final quarter.

Caitlin Estes (Scotia/Scotia-Glenville) led the Hudson Valley with 20 points and shot 8-of-15 from the floor, including 4-of-8 from behind the three-point arc. Estes also added seven rebounds and two assists in 39 minutes of action.

Taylor Engster (Troy/Catholic Central) shot 6-of-12 from the floor for 16 points and nearly tallied a double-double with nine rebounds. Hayley Jones (Catskill/Catskill) had a good night for the Vikings as she finished with seven points, eight rebounds and a team-high six assists.

The difference in the game proved to be the free throw differential as the Vikings were called for 23 fouls, which sent Jefferson to the free throw line 28 times. The Cannoneers connected on 22 of the 28 free throw attempts, while the Vikings shot 10-of-11 from the charity stripe.

Hudson Valley concludes a successful season in which they were ranked inside the NJCAA top-10 nationally throughout the season and improved upon last season's 18-10 record.
