Women's Basketball Survives Overtime for 12th Straight Win

The Hudson Valley women's basketball team (18-3) went on the road and defeated Sullivan 67-64 in overtime to extend their win streak to 12 straight games on Thursday evening in Loch Sheldrake, NY. 

Hayley Jones (Catskill/Catskill) scored nine points for the Vikings, which included two of the biggest baskets of the night. Jones scored the game-tying basket with 52 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter to eventually force overtime. Jones also scored a late basket with three seconds remaining to extend the Vikings lead to 67-64. 

Madison Graber (Schenectady/Schalmont), this week's NJCAA Region 3 Player of the Week, connected on the go-ahead score with 32 seconds remaining in overtime, giving Hudson Valley a one point advantage over Sullivan. 

Taylor Engster (Troy/Catholic Central) finished the game as the Vikings leading scorer with 21 points. Engster has now surpassed the 20-point plateau for the fifth time this season. Hannah Kreiger (Brunswick/Tamarac) shot well for Hudson Valley as she connected on six field goals, including three from behind the three-point arc for a total of 17 points. 

The women's program is back in action on Wednesday, February 6 as they welcome Clinton to the McDonough Sports Complex. The game is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
