Men's Cross Country Finishes Runner Up at Region 3 Championships

The Hudson Valley men's and women's cross country programs competed in the NJCAA Region 3 Championship meet on Saturday morning in Canandaigua, NY. Both the men's and women's program claimed second place in their respective races. 

The women's team was led by the NJCAA Region 3 individual champion, McKenzie Ryan. Ryan won the 5K race and posted a final time of 22:12.20 and was named to the All-Region team. 

Anna Clarke joined Ryan as an All-Region honoree as she finished ninth and crossed the finish line with a time of 24:35.15.  Clarke was followed closely by Ashley Martinez, who placed 12th overall and posted an official time of 25:16.11.

Michaela Troy and Rachel Dempsey rounds out the Vikings results with Troy placing 15th with a time of 25:57.70 and Dempsey finished 26th with a time of 29:57.09. 

The men's cross country team placed second in back-to-back weekends as they finished runner up in the NJCAA Region 3 championship meet. The men were led by Joseph Degiorgio, who finished in sixth place to earn All-Region honors with a time of 29:37.93.  

Evan Rogotzke followed Degiorgio with a ninth-place finish and earned All-Region team honors as well. Rogotzke finished the race with a time of 29:42.36.

Rounding out the Vikings scoring were Ryan Bruce, who placed 15th with a time of 30:39.82 and Dermot O'Connor,who crossed the finish line in 16th place with a time of 30:42.18. Justin Caron posted an official time of 31:38.00, which was good for 26th place. 

Jacob Wilson (35:54.07)Ethan Welkley (36:18.46) and Brett Labier (37:01.27) also competed at the Region 3 meet. 

The cross county programs are scheduled to compete in the NJCAA Championships on Nov. 2 at Stanley Park in Westfield, Mass., hosted by Holyoke Community College.
