Cross Country Competes in Busy James Earley Invitational

The Hudson Valley men's and women's cross country programs competed in the annual James Earley Invitational at Westfield State University on Saturday morning. 

The women's program finished the 5K race in 24th out of 28 qualifying teams. The busy race had nearly 200 individual runners participating and the Vikings were led by McKenzie Ryan, who finished the race with a final time of 21:14.18.  

Anna Clarke was the second Vikings runner to cross the finish line and she posted a final time of 23:05.11. Rounding out the Vikings scoring were Michaela Troy (24:09.65), Rachel Dempsey (27:19.04).

The men's cross country team finished their 8K race in 23rd out of 28 qualifying teams. The men's race featured 206 individual runners and the Vikings were led by Evan Rogotzke, who finished the race with a time of 28:54.30.

Joseph Degiorgio was the second Vikings runner to cross the finish line and he posted an official time of 29:16.72 and Dermot O'Connor followed Degiorgio and recorded a time of 30:52.95. 

Rounding out the scoring for the men's team is Justin Caron (31:25) and Francis Magai (32:15). Jacob Wilson (33:30), Brett Labier (33:58), Ethan Welkley (33:59) all finished the race but did not score for the Vikings. 

Oswaldo Arias (39:28) and Edgar Alamo-Benitez (37:06) participated in the sub-varsity race for the Vikings. 

The cross county programs are back in action on Saturday, Oct., 19 when they travel to compete in the Mountain Valley Conference Championships, hosted by Herkimer College.
