The Hudson Valley Community College men's lacrosse (2-1) team dropped their first game of the season as they fell 17-7 to No. 10 Mercer County on Sunday afternoon in West Windsor, NJ. 

Mercer jumped out on the Vikings early by scoring five straight goals within the first six minutes of the game. Darren Nagy (Saugerties/Saugerties) ended the Vikings scoreless drought with his first goal of the game at the 1:43 mark in the first quarter. The Vikings entered halftime trailing 8-1 following Mercer's three goals in the second quarter. 

Hudson Valley had more success in the second half, scoring six goals, including three straight goals to start the fourth quarter. The Vikings cut into Mercer County's lead and trailed 12-7 with 10:32 remaining and the game was still within reach of a potential comeback victory. 

Mercer quickly ended the Vikings hopes as they finished the game scoring five unanswered goals and extended their lead by 10 goals. 

Nagy finished the game with a team-high two goals on six shots as six Vikings found the back of the net this afternoon. Nathan Bruce (Scotia/Scotia-Glenville) scored one goal and added an assist on Nagy's second goal of the game. Austin Hinderliter (Ephratah/Johnstown), Corbin Lafleur (East Greenbush/LaSalle Institute), Christopher Calicchia (Loudonville/Shaker) and John Lawlor (Colonie/Colonie) scored for Hudson Valley. 

Goalkeeper Trevor Ham (Kingston/Kingston) faced a season-high 33 shots and recorded 16 saves. 

The Vikings men's lacrosse program returns home this Wednesday, March 13 as they welcome Potomac State to Troy, NY with a scheduled 4 p.m. start time.
