The men's and women's bowling programs competed in the Mountain Valley Conference match, hosted by Schenectady on Wednesday afternoon.

The Mountain Valley Conference matches are divided in two sets with three games each. The men's bowling team placed place second in the first set and won the second set behind some consistent bowling by Kyle Fortin (East Greenbush / Schalmont) and Jordan Nichols Saratoga Springs / Saratoga Springs). The duo placed first and second among all Vikings in each of the two sets.

In the opening set, the Vikings totaled 2,729 pins and finished behind Herkimer. Nichols led the Vikings with a total round score of 592 and Fortin finished with 585 total pins.

In the second set, Hudson Valley improved on their first set score to win the second set with 2,955 pins. Nichols and Fortin each surpassed 600 pins in the second set. Fortin tallied 623 pins and Nichols added 603 pins. 

The women's program placed fourth and third in the first and second sets, respectively. Jordan Thomas (Lake Katrine / Kingston) and Gianna Weiss (East Greenbush / Columbia) each recorded at least one 200 pin game on Wednesday afternoon. Weiss posted two games in which she hit the 200-pin plateau and also recorded a team-best individual game score of 215 in the final game of the first set. 

Thomas posted a score of 211 in the opening game of the first match as she finished the set with a team-best score of 565. 

In the second set, Haley Salvagione (Valatie / Ichabod Crane) led the Vikings to a third-place finish as she finished with a team-best score of 525. 

The Vikings continue to build upon their strong start this season and will be back on the lanes this Saturday, Jan. 25 when they travel to participate in the Westchester Shootout in Fishkill, NY.
