Men's Basketball Wins Fifth Straight with Win at TC3

The Hudson Valley men's basketball team improved to 12-4 on the season and extended their win streak to five straight after defeating Tompkins Cortland 91-74 on Sunday afternoon in Dryden, NY. 

The Vikings (12-4) started off slow as they entered halftime leading the home Panthers (4-8) 34-33. In the first half, the Vikings shot 32 percent from the floor and missed all eight of their three-point field goals. 

Following the break, freshman Brandon McKenly (Brooklyn / Leadership & Public Service ) took over the game and posted a double-double in the second half with 16 points and 12 rebounds. The Vikings ourscored Tompkins Cortland 57-41 in the second half. McKenly finished the game with 22 points and 16 rebounds.

Daivel Jackson (Kingston / Kingston) and Luke Bourgault (Troy / LaSalle) combined to score 29 points, with Jackson finishing with a career-high 15 points. Bourgault started the game cold, but heated up and found his jumpshot to finish with 14 points after starting the game 1-of-7 from the floor. 

As a team, the Vikings shot 44 percent from the floor and hit only one three-point field goal (Bourgault). Iziah Pigott (Brooklyn / Urban Assembly for Law & Justice) posted 10 of the Vikings 18 assists and added a team-best five steals as he continues to excel in his role as the floor general. 

Hudson Valley returns to action on Thursday, Jan. 16 as they travel to play nationally ranked Mohawk Valley at 7 p.m. in Utica, NY.
