Sophomore guard Justin Gallo (Brunswick/Lansingburgh High School) poured in a career-high 40 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the Hudson Valley Community College men's basketball team to a 97-87 win over Broome Community College earlier today in Troy.
With the win, Hudson Valley, which is ranked No. 1 in the NJCAA Division III poll, finished its first semester with a 16-0 record and already ensures itself of its 18th consecutive winning season.
Gallo scored 20 points each half and connected on five three-point baskets in the game. His 40 points are the most on record for Hudson Valley since Norm Gates scored 50 points twice during the 1955-56 season.
Sophomore guard Emanuel Mayben (Troy/Troy High School) finished with 22 points and eight assists and sophomore forward Datwan Hemingway (Albany/CBA) posted his 15th double-double of the season with 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Broome received 22 points from Tyrek Coleman and 20 points from Rob Krowiak.
