Football Dominates Buffalo State JV; Improves to 2-0

The Hudson Valley Community College football team dominated its way to a 46-0 road win against Buffalo State JV on Sunday afternoon at Coyer Field in Buffalo, NY.
The Vikings utilized three-man rushing attack for most of the game as they accumulated 161 rushing yards on 41 attempts. Treshawn Patterson led the Vikings in rushing for the second straight game as he tallied 58 yards on eight attempts and a rushing touchdown. Patterson averaged a team-best 7.3 yards per rush. Bo Catherwood added 47 yards on nine carries, including two rushing touchdowns. Kevin Mayfield also collected eight rushing attempts and finished with 28 rushing yards and a touchdown.
Quarterback Cameron Harbaugh had another efficient passing day as he went 13-of-20 for 147 passing yards and one touchdown. Harbaugh also utilized his own ground game for the team's fifth rushing touchdown of the game.
Damien Santiago has his big playmaking ability on display as he finished with 73 yards on three catches. Joshua Peguero tallied the team's only receiving touchdown and finished the game with 16 yards on a pair of catches.
Despite the strong play by the offense, the defense starred as they earned its first shutout victory of the season. As a team, the Vikings collected four sacks, two fumble recoveries and an interception to keep Buffalo State out of the Vikings zone for nearly the entire game. Euguene. Sheppard had a couple of nice open field tackles and finished the game with a team-high five tackles as the defense allowed a total of four yards on offense with 32 passing yards and -28 rushing yards.
The Vikings do not have much time to rest as they are back in action this Friday, Sept. 6 at 2 p.m. as they host Nichols State JV at the Outdoor Athletic Complex on the campus of HVCC.
