The Hudson Valley Community College football team (2-2) defeated Dean College (1-4) 15-12 on Saturday evening.
The Vikings jumped out to an early lead after Dean fumbled on their opening possession, and Jaylen McIntyre (CBA Albany/Latham) scored on the ensuing drive to give the Vikings an early 7-0 lead. Dean would score 12 unanswered points in the second half and looked to be in control, but a late fumble proved to be the difference in the game. Vikings safety Adolfo Peralta (Poughkeepsie/Poughkeepsie) picked up the fumble and returned it for a touchdown, and McIntyre converted on the 2-point conversion to give Hudson Valley a 15-12 lead. The defense would hold strong to preserve the lead to earn a hard fought road victory.
The team hosts Valley Forge next Saturday for their homecoming game starting at 1 p.m.
