Hudson Valley Community College football head coach, Oji Fagan, has accepted a position with the Hartford Colonials of the United Football League (UFL). Fagan will work as running backs coach for Hartford.
The UFL has a loose affiliation with the National Football League (NFL). Nearly 40 players and eight coaches jumped from the UFL to the NFL for the end of the NFL regular-season in 2009. It is considered one of the top professional developmental leagues in the country.
Fagan spent eight seasons at Hudson Valley, serving as the head coach for five. He had a 25-25 record as the head coach of the Vikings and won Northeast Conference Co-Coach of the Year for the 2009 season.
In reflecting on his years here, Coach Fagan states, "I had a wonderful and blessed experience at Hudson Valley. It was an environment where I was able to grow professionally." He adds, "I will always treasure my time at Hudson Valley."
Fagan had a tremendous eight years on the Hudson Valley campus and helped countless student-athletes move on to four-year institutions where they could better themselves. His services are much appreciated and will be sorely missed.
