On Saturday, Oct. 10, the Hudson Valley Community College football team (3-3, 2-2) traveled to Long Island to take on Nassau CC (3-2, 1-2) in a huge NFC matchup. The Vikings came into the game as the conference's highest scoring team, but that would not be the story of the day's game as Hudson Valley grinded out a 3-0 victory.
In a battle of field position and defensive stops, Brandon Harvey (Laurel, Laurel, MD) led the Vikings with 10 tackles, two for a loss and recorded a sack. Gavin Nelson (Somerville, Somerville, MA) and Terry Patrick (Aliquippa, Aliquippa, PA) each added seven and a half and seven tackles, respectively.
Offensively, kicker David Fox (Tamarac, Troy) converted the only three points of the game on a 29-yard field goal in the second quarter. Owusu "Chief" Anane (Boys and Girls, Brooklyn) had 85 yards rushing on 12 carries for an impressive average of 7.1 yards per carry.
The Vikings will attempt to win back-to-back games for the first time this season as they host Alfred State (3-3, 0-1) Saturday, Oct. 17, at noon.
