The Hudson Valley Community College football team (2-3, 1-2) fell to Erie Community College (2-3, 2-1) in an NFC matchup, Saturday, Oct. 3. The Vikings dominated for three quarters but gave up 14 unanswered points in the fourth to lose, 22-21.
Offensively for the Vikings, Akeem Jordan (Carroll, Washington D.C.) had a big day with two touchdowns on seven receptions and 107 total receiving yards. One of his touchdown catches came from quarterback Andreas Hudson (Frankford, Philadelphia). The other was tossed by running back Ismail Jordan (Watertown, Watertown) on a half back option. Ismail also churned out a tough 115 yards on the ground for the Vikings. Hudson added another touchdown pass to Darryl Thompson (John Marshall, Rochester). But, that would be all the scoring for Hudson Valley as they were shutdown and shutout in the fourth.
The lone early score for Erie was a 99-yard interception return for a touchdown. The Kats then faked the PAT and ran it in for two points. Erie's offense took over in the fourth quarter as the Viking's defense could not get the necessary stop to secure the game. Erie had just 28 total yards in the first half and then exploded in the fourth, throwing for a 57-yard touchdown pass midway through the quarter, cutting the lead to six. On the final drive, Erie drove the ball 67 yards for the game-winning score. On the drive, the Vikings forced the Kats into two fourth down scenarios. Erie was successful on both, including the final touchdown run.
The Vikings now have three defeats on the season by a total of seven points. Hudson Valley will try to bounce back next Saturday as they travel to Nassau CCC.
