Nineteen Former Vikings on Division I Rosters This Fall

Over the last two seasons, Hudson Valley Community College has won more games than any two-year span in the program's history and it is easy to see why as 19 former Hudson Valley players are on NCAA Division I rosters on the eve of the 2005 college football season.

Six former players will be playing for Division I-A universities this year, including Jonal Saint-Dic and Darnell Stapleton who signed with Michigan State University and Rutgers University, respectively, last February. Other former Vikings on Division I-A rosters are University of Buffalo offensive tackle Leroy Auguste, New Mexico State University linebacker John Howell IV, Temple University tight end Anthony Martinez and Syracuse University tight end J.J. Nesheiwat.

Emmanuel Marc, Hudson Valley's all-time leading rusher, has graduated from the college and will carry the ball for Delaware State University this fall. He will open his season against Florida A&M University on ESPNU at 7 p.m. this Saturday, September 3.

Along with Marc, 12 other former Vikings will be playing for Division I-AA schools this year. Defensive linemen Ernest Jones and Frantzy Dorlean are returning starters at Tennessee State University and defensive backs Francis Brown and Eric Brooks are returning starters at Western Carolina University and Savannah State University, respectively.

The Vikings are looking for their third straight season with at least eight wins. Hudson Valley was 8-2 in 2003 and won its final five games to finish 8-3 a year ago.

Hudson Valley opens its season on Sunday, September 4 at Hartwick JV. The opening kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.

Division I-AA
