GAME ONE: HVCC 4 - SUNY BROOME 0
Alex Deitz was dominant on the mound, as the pitcher rang up 10 strikeouts in the Vikings's 4-0 victory over SUNY Broome on Thursday. Deitz surrendered two hits and zero runs over seven innings while walking none.
The Vikings opened the scoring in the fourth after a steal of home scored one run.
Jameson Balich and Aidan Heffner each collected two hits for the Vikings. Nico DeSanto and Matthew Carrera each drove in one run for the Vikings. The Vikings were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Niko Sorice made the most plays with 10.
GAME TWO: HVCC 12 - SUNY BROOME 1
The Vikings easily dispatched SUNY Broome in the second game on Thursday, 12-1.
The Vikings were the first to get on the board in the second when Christian Aguilar hit a sacrifice fly, scoring two runs. The Vikings scored five runs on three hits in the top of the sixth inning. Nico DeSanto singled, scoring two runs, Juan Rodriguez was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Aguilar hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, and an error scored one run.
Connor Trudeau earned the win for the Vikings . The starting pitcher surrendered two hits and one run over four innings, striking out five and walking three. Hunter Stolov and Tyler Murray each threw shutout innings for the Vikings in relief.
The Vikings collected 10 hits in the game. Aguilar, the number nine hitter for the Vikings, led the way with four runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 2-for-3 on the day. Jameson Balich, Logan Norman, and Aguilar each collected two hits for the Vikings. The Vikings had a strong eye at the plate, tallying eight walks for the game. The Vikings ran wild on the base paths, piling up six stolen bases for the game.
The Vikings welcome Herkimer College on Saturday for Senior Day. Games are at 12pm and 2pm and the Senior Day Ceremony will be held before the games.
