Baseball Earns All-Region, All-Conference Honors

The NJCAA Region 3 and the Mountain Valley Conference released its 2022 baseball All-Region and All-Conference teams, as voted on by the head coaches. The baseball program had four student-athletes receive the end of the year honors for the tremendous season they had this season. 

Mike TalaveraJosh FogliaLuis Misla were all named to the NJCAA Region 3 Second-Team after receiving All-Mountain Valley First Team honors. Jaden Ross received NJCAA Region 3 All-Glove team honors as one of the best defensive outfielders among the Region 3 programs. Ross had a .971 fielding percentage with 30 putouts and three assists on the year. 

Talavera, a Waterford, NY native, led the Vikings with a .391 batting average and 33 runs batted in with 33 RBIs. Talavera finished the year with 43 hits and was a force on the base-paths as he finished with a team-best 24 stolen bases. He posted a .455 on-base percentage and slugged .609 in 110 at-bats over the Vikings 35-game season. 

Foglia, a Latham, NY native, was one of the Vikings most consistent hitters this season as he saw time as the designated hitter and a starting first baseman. Foglia batted .333 with a team-best .474 on-base percentage and added 30 hits, 18 runs, 23 RBIs and a team-best 19 walks in 90 at-bats and 34 games played. 

Misla, a Tampa, Fla. native, quickly became one of the Vikings top two pitchers this season as he finished with a perfect 7-0 record in 46.0 innings pitched and struck out a team-best 87 batters, which ranked second in Region 3. He allowed 29 hits, 19 earned runs and posted a strikeout per nine innings ratio of 17.02.

Third year head coach, Josh Parrow, who guided the program through his first two seasons which were canceled by the COVID-19 pandemic, managed the Vikings to a Region 3 postseason berth with a 14-8 regional record. Parrow was recognized for the program's success as he was named the Mountain Valley Conference Coach of the Year.  

As a team, the Vikings finished with a 16-19 overall record and finished 14-8 in the Region 3 East standings with a 14-8 record and earned a postseason berth against Niagara in the Sub-Regional round.
