Hudson Valley Community College baseball program saw its season end after an eventful weekend in which the second game of the best-of-three series at Niagara was halted on Saturday evening due to inclement weather.

Game One: Niagara 4, Hudson Valley 0

The Vikings went up against a solid pitcher from the Thunderwolves, Kyle Menaker, who tossed a complete game shutout and allowed only four hits and struck out 16 Vikings in the opening game on Saturday.

Outfielder Jaden Ross led the Vikings with two hits as he finished the game 2-of-3 at the plate, including a stolen base. Ian Martinez and Branden Shader also collected hits for the Vikings.

Jacob Lapham took the mound and tossed seven innings, allowed four runs on four hits, all singles, and gave up three walks, while striking out four batters. Chance Herrington entered in relief to close out the final two innings of the game.

Game Two: Niagara 5, Hudson Valley 2

The Vikings jumped off to a strong start in the second game as they took a quick 1-0 lead as Jaden Ross scored on a Mike Talavera sacrifice fly to right field. Ross also scored the Vikings second run in the top of the third inning following a two-out double. Josh Foglia drove in Ross with an RBI single.

The game was halted as the Vikings and Wolves were tied 2-2 in the fifth inning due to inclement weather and was scheduled to resume on Sunday at noon.

On Sunday, the Wolves were able to put three more runs on the board late in the game to secure the win in game two and the series over the Vikings. Tyler Misla started on the mound for the Vikings and pitched all five innings on Saturday, striking out 11 batters and allowed two runs on five hits. On Sunday, Austin Walsh completed the rest of the four innings and took the loss against the nationally-ranked Niagara program.
