Hudson Valley's baseball student-athlete Jackson Wenstrom (Mandan, ND/Mandan) has been named the NJCAA Region 3 Baseball Player of the Week as announced by Region 3.
In six games this week Jackson batted .550 (11-20) with 3 doubles, 1 triple and four home runs. Jackson became the Vikings all-time home run king as he now has 18 career home runs. In 26 plate appearances, he drove in 15 runs, scored 10 runs, slugged 1.400 and posted an on-base percentage of .615.
The Vikings baseball program kicked off the 2019 season last week as they traveled to Florida for their annual spring trip. Hudson Valley finished the week with a 4-5 record, including series sweeps over Waubonsee and Northern Essex.
Baseball is home this Saturday for the start of NJCAA Region 3 play as they welcome Schenectady to Joe Bruno Stadium on the campus of Hudson Valley in Troy, NY. First pitch is scheduled for 12 p.m.
