The Hudson Valley Community College baseball team (2-12) defeated Fulton-Montgomery Community College (1-10) 8-7 and 7-5 on Tuesday afternoon.
With the Vikings down 7-5 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning in game one, Alex Lushkevich (Saratoga Springs/Saratoga Springs) led off with a double and Andrew Kozak (Sidney/Sidney) drew a walk. Sean Geisel (Guilderland/Guilderland) then stepped up to the plate and delivered a two-run double to tie the game. Two batters later, Dennis Buckley (Christian Brothers Academy/Colonie) hit a walk-off double to earn the Vikings their first win of the season. Lushkavich had two hits, four runs scored and two stolen bases. Buckley added two doubles and two RBIs. In game two, both Kozak and Geisel recorded two hits each, and Jarrod Ford (Hoosic Valley/Johnsonville) came in relief to earn the win, retiring the last eight batters to end the game.
The team goes to Fulton-Montgomery on Thursday, April 5 for a doubleheader starting at 2 p.m.
