The Hudson Valley Community College (2-0) baseball team swept a doubleheader at Cumberland County College, located in Vineland, New Jersey, on Saturday. It is the fourth straight year Hudson Valley has opened its season with at least two straight wins.
Freshman Steve Sayre (East Greenbush/Columbia High School) hit two home runs and a double to lead Hudson Valley to a 7-6 win in the opener. Freshman Paul Terry (Waterford, NY/Catholic Central High School) also hit one out for the Vikings.
Freshman Chris Salamida (Watervliet/Watervliet High School) belted two doubles to pace the Vikings to a 5-3 win in the nightcap.
