Troy, N.Y., April 16 - Hudson Valley Community College went into tonight's contest tied for first place in Region III with Schenectady County Community College. Each had an unblemished 10-0 Region III record. The Vikings battled at the Joseph L. Bruno Stadium today, but they couldn't keep up their end of an offensive outburst. Hudson Valley lost, 13-9.
The Vikings tried to make a statement in the beginning, scoring three runs in the second inning to take an early lead. Matt Nobles (Bishop Maginn H.S.) led off the inning with a walk, and Silvestre Castro (Norman Thomas H.S.) scored him on a double to right field. Austin Walker (Stillwater H.S.) doubled home Castro with the next at-bat, and scored on a single by Justin Meagher (Colonie H.S.). Walker ended the day 3-for-5 with three RBI and a run scored. Bobby Krogh (Troy H.S.) chipped in with a 3-for-5 performance, adding a double, an RBI and two runs scored.
Shawn Miller (Troy H.S.) pitched four innings, striking out four.
Hudson Valley is now 17-10-1 overall and 10-1 in Region III play. Schenectady is 17-7 overall and 11-0 in Region III.
