Graber, Green Named NJCAA National Basketball Players of the Week

Hudson Valley Community College women's basketball freshman, Payton Graber and men's basketball sophomore guard, Trevor Green, were named NJCAA Basketball Division III National Players of the Week following strong individual performances last week, which featured both teams finishing with a combined 3-0 record.
Graber garners her first national player of the week recognition of her collegiate career after she led the Vikings to a dominant 87-25 win over Corning. Graber scored a game-best 32 points and 10 steals in the team's only game last week. The women's program finished the first half of the season with a 3-3 record, including two consecutive wins over Region 3 opponents. Payton currently leads the nation in scoring, averaging 27.2 points per game, second in the nation with 5.7 steals per game and eighth in the nation with 4.0 assists per game. Yvonne Boyd ranks sixth in the nation with 4.2 assists.
Trevor Green had an impressive week, earning a triple-double in the team's 103-79 win over No. 6 Genesee and a double-double on Saturday in the Vikings 83-71 win over No. 8 Corning. In the two games he averaged 20 points, 10.5 rebounds, 6.5 assists, 3.5 steals, and 2.5 blocks. On the year, Green is averaging 21.1 points per game, which ranks 10th in the nation and is shooting 47 percent from the floor.
Green was also named the NJCAA Region 3 men's basketball player of the week as announced by Region 3 on Wednesday morning for his outstanding performance last week.
The men's basketball team finished the first half of the season with a 7-3 record and are currently ranked No. 11 in the latest NJCAA men's basketball rankings.
Hudson Valley men's and women's basketball returns to the court on Thursday, January 5, 2023 when they host Herkimer College at the McDonough Sports Complex on the campus of HVCC. The men's game is scheduled to tip at 1 p.m., followed by the women's game around 3 p.m.
