The Hudson Valley department of athletics lost a member of its alumni and Hall of Fame member, Edward J. Barber on Wednesday, June 30, 2021. 

Barber graduated from Hudson Valley Community College in 1971 and was a member of the Vikings wrestling team and was inducted into the Vikings Athletics Hall of Fame in 1995. 

Captain of the Hudson Valley wrestling team in 1970-71, Edward Barber established an individual dual-meet career record with a 35-5 mark. He twice placed at the Region III tournament, taking home a second- and third-place finish. Barber was a two-time Collar City Classic Tournament champion and was voted Hudson Valley's Most Outstanding Athlete as a senior. An outstanding student as well, Barber graduated with a 3.5 GPA and was a member of the 1969-70 wrestling team that was named National Academic Co-Champions.
