Region 3, Athletics Presents Student-Athlete Mental Health Workshop

The department of athletics is happy to announce a mental health workshop opportunity that is being sponsored by our Region ( NJCAA Region 3) on Wednesday February 10 at 6 PM for all of our student-athletes. A mental health workshop organized for Region 3 administrators and staff will immediately follow at 7 PM.  

This is a Region-wide event, so only the first 1,000 student-athletes that register will have access. Student-athletes interested in attending the workshop, please contact your head coach for the registration link.

Dr. Joel Fish is a licensed psychologist and a nationally recognized expert in sport psychology who has worked in the field for over 30 years.  He has worked extensively with athletes of all ages and skills levels, from youth sport through the Olympic and professional ranks.  Dr. Fish has been a sport psychology consultant for the Philadelphia 76ersPhiladelphia Flyers, the Philadelphia Phillies Organization, the USA Women's National Field Hockey Team, and the USA Women's National Soccer Team.   Dr. Fish has also served as a sport psychology consultant for the University of PennsylvaniaSaint Joseph's UniversityTemple University, and numerous other universities.   Dr. Fish has been a visiting lecturer at the Wingate Institute and Zinman College in Netanya, Israel, where he has taught about sport psychology and elite athletes.   He has spoken nationwide on sport psychology at over 300 universities nationwide and is a popular presenter at a variety of athletic functions.   Dr. Fish has also worked with numerous businesses and organizations on the topics of leadership, peak performance, sustaining motivation, and teambuilding.  Dr. Fish has been frequently quoted in the Philadelphia and national media, having been featured numerous times on ABCCNNESPNFoxHBO, and NBC.  In addition, he has been featured on television programs such as NBC's TodayHBO's Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel, ESPN's SportsCenter and Outside The Lines. He is currently the Director of The Center For Sport Psychology in Philadelphia, where he works with athletes of all ages and skill levels.  He is the author of a popular youth sports book, 101 Ways to Be a Terrific Sports Parent.  Dr. Fish received his B.A. from Clark University, an M.A. from Temple University, and his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
