The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 3 announced Justin Hoyt of Hudson Valley Community College as the 2019-20 NJCAA Region 3 Athletic Director of the Year.
Hoyt is cited by his peers for his commitment and dedication to both his institution and the Region. He is known for developing programs to enhance the student-athlete experience and administering his competitive athletic programs with the highest level of integrity.
"This award is a true testament to our staff and coaches that go above and beyond to ensure academic, athletic, and personal success for our student-athletes," said Hoyt. "I'm grateful to have strong leadership from President Ramsammy and VP Coplin and for always supporting the department and our initiatives to provide the best experience for our student-athletes."
Hoyt has become one of the leaders in Region 3 in a short period of time, serving in multiple leadership roles. He has served as the NJCAA Region 3 Assistant Women's Director for the past three years and chairs the Track & Field committee, while also serving on the Football and Standards & Ethics committees. On the National level, he is the vice-chair for Women's Basketball and serves on the Women's Tennis and Track & Field committees.
Having completed his fourth year as director of athletics, Hoyt was responsible for overseeing the addition of men's and women's track and field and men's golf for the 2018 spring season, and most recently announced the addition of Esports for the fall of 2020. Under Hoyt's guidance, the department has set record numbers of National and Regional academic awards, while finishing a program best 8th Place in the 2018-19 NATTYCA Cup Final Standings. It was also announced by NJCAA Region 3 this week that Hudson Valley earned the Community Service Award for the fourth straight year.
