Hudson Valley Community College's head men's and women's track and field coach, Jeoffrey York has been announced as one of the 11 newest inductees for the Hall of Fame Class of 2020 as announced by the Greater Capital Region Track, Field and Cross Country Hall of Fame.

Coach York highlights a talented group of individuals who have left their marks across the region's track, field, and cross-country landscape. A graduate from Troy High School, York still holds the Troy High School records for indoor (50 and 55 meters) and outdoor hurdles (110 meters) and claimed the 1989 NYSPHSAA Indoor 55-Meter Hurdle State Championship.

Upon graduation, Coach York competed for the University at Albany, where he was a five-time NCAA Champion and an eight-time All-American in the 55-meter hurdles, 110-meter hurdles and the 4x400 relay and holds the UAlbany school records in the 55- and 110-meter hurdle events. As a result of his success at UAlbany, Coach York was named Albany's Male Athlete of the Year in 1995 and was later inducted into the school's Track and Field Wall of Fame in 2016 and into the Athletics Hall of Fame in 2000.

Coach also strived for international success as he was a semi-finalist in the 110-meter hurdles event at the 2000 U.S. Olympic Trials. York was also a Penn Relay Olympic Development Champion in the 110-meter hurdle event in both 1999 and 2001. He also competed throughout Europe and the U.S. as an Elite hurdler.

Coach York was named the head men's and women's track and field coach in 2016 as he was tasked with reviving the Vikings program, which was dropped in 1995. Coach York and his coaching staff brought instant success and national attention to the programs as the Vikings won back-to-back NJCAA Region III Men's Track and Field Championships in his first two seasons at the helm.

The Vikings men's track and field program finished the 2019 season as the top-ranked program in the USTFCCCA Northeast Regional rankings and earned a fourth-place finish at the 2019 NJCAA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships.

Coach York's success played a part in Hudson Valley winning the national bid to host the 2020, 2021 and 2022 NJCAA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships at the Outdoor Athletic Complex on the campus of Hudson Valley Community College. The championships will be held on May 6-8 in 2021 and May 12-14 in 2022.
