Hudson Valley Community College Director of Athletics Justin Hoyt named Catherine (Catie) Bell as the next head coach of the Vikings men's and women's bowling program. A Capital Region native, Bell replaces longtime Hudson Valley coaching legend, Joe Prest after 31 years at the helm.  

Bell spent the previous two seasons as Hudson Valley's assistant bowling coach under Coach Prest. She managed travel, practices and implemented new training techniques to the Vikings practice program. In her first season as an assistant, Bellhelped the Vikings advance to the Intercollegiate Team Championships Sectional Tournament for the first time since 2014. 

"Catie has shown her abilities as an assistant coach over the past two seasons," said Director of Athletics Justin Hoyt. "I am confident that she can maintain the level of success our bowling program has sustained over the years." 

Catie currently manages Del Lanes in Delmar, NY, where she coordinates all bowling leagues, sales, scheduling and special events. She also volunteers as the junior league coordinator and coach on Saturday mornings at the Green Island Lanes in Green Island, NY. 

Bell received her Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Robert Morris University – Springfield, Ill., and is a registered volunteer with the United States Bowling Congress (USBC) and has obtained USBC Level 1 Coaching and Bronze Level certification.
